Welcome to Incheon: Your Arrival Made Easy

1. Disembark the Airplane

After your plane lands, wait for the seatbelt sign to turn off before gathering your belongings. Follow the signs for ‘Arrivals’ as you leave the plane. The signage is in both Korean and English, making it easier to find your way.

2. Complete the Arrival Forms

As you proceed to the immigration area, you might need to complete various forms. These include the arrival card, which will ask for details such as your hotel name, address, and phone number.

Additionally, there may be health declaration forms if required due to health advisories. You can complete the health declaration form in advance on this website.

If you are carrying items that need to be declared (such as large sums of money or specific goods), make sure to accurately list them on the customs declaration form to comply with regulations.

3. Immigration and Quarantine Procedures

Next, head to the immigration counters. You’ll need to present your passport, visa, and the completed customs declaration form to the immigration officer. If you have an arrival card (often distributed on the plane), have that ready as well. The officer may ask you a few questions about your stay in Korea—answer them calmly and honestly. If there are any quarantine requirements (such as a health screening), you’ll be directed to a separate area for a quick check.

Even if you have a visa, please be prepared for any potential issues at the immigration counter at Incheon Airport. Ensure that you have your Lausanne Congress invitation letter, round-trip air tickets, and hotel voucher (or accommodation address) readily available. Please refer to the email sent to you for the help desk contact number in case you encounter any issues at airport immigration.

4. Collect Your Luggage

If you checked any luggage before your flight, you will need to claim it once you land at baggage claim. Once you’ve cleared immigration, follow the signs to the baggage claim area. Look for your flight number on the electronic display screens to find the correct carousel. If you are unsure about which carousel your luggage will be on, ask a flight attendant as you deboard the plane. Collect your luggage, ensuring you have all your own bags before moving on. If your luggage doesn’t arrive, proceed to the lost luggage counter for assistance.

5. Customs Inspection

With your luggage in hand, head to the customs inspection area. You may need to present your customs declaration form again here. If you have items to declare, you’ll be directed to a specific lane for inspection. Otherwise, you can proceed through the “Nothing to Declare” lane.

6. Meet Our Volunteers

After passing through customs, you’ll enter the arrivals hall. Look for our volunteer holding a sign with the Lausanne Congress logo. They are there to help you with any questions and guide you to your next destination. If you need to exchange currency, there are counters available here, and our volunteers can direct you to them.

7. Transportation Tips

If you arrive on 21 or 22 September between 09:00 and 22:00 and are staying at a listed hotel, you can use the shuttle service which will operate according to a set schedule.

Shuttle Bus Location at Incheon Airport

Terminal 1: After the luggage claim area, proceed to Gate 13(1F) for the shuttle bus location at the Lausanne welcome counter.

Terminal 2: After the luggage claim area, proceed to Gate 7(1F) for the shuttle bus location at the Lausanne welcome counter.

Otherwise, there are several transportation options available to get you from the airport to your accommodation:

  • Taxis: Official taxis are available right outside the arrivals hall. Make sure to use only official taxis to avoid any potential issues. Our volunteer can help you get to the taxi stand and ensure you get into the correct vehicle.
  • Airport Railroad Express (AREX): This is a fast and convenient way to get into Seoul. The AREX connects directly to Seoul Station, where you can transfer to other subway lines. Tickets can be purchased at machines or counters near the entrance, and our volunteer can assist you with this.
  • Buses: Incheon Airport is well-served by buses that go to various parts of Seoul and beyond. Our volunteer can help you choose the right bus for your destination and assist with purchasing tickets.
  • Ride-Sharing Services: Ride-sharing apps are also available in Korea, and our volunteer can guide you on how to use them.

8. Additional Tips

  • SIM Cards and Wi-Fi: If you need a local SIM card or portable Wi-Fi device, there are kiosks in the arrivals hall. These will help you stay connected during your stay. The cost is approximately $35 for a 10 day plan.
  • Currency Exchange: Mastercard and Visa are widely accepted, so you might not need cash. If you want to exchange some money at the airport for immediate expenses like transportation, currency exchange counters are located in the arrivals hall.
